We can fix anything with the stroke of a few keys and even generate whatever our imagination decides. However, it has one MAJOR limitation a low-resolution rendering. We can't do much with generative fill on a high-resolution file due to its inability to replicate noise patterns, sharpness, and its horrible interpolation limitation with large selections. I have a fix for you! I think you'll love this one too. Using High Pass sharpening and the addition of noise, even the low-resolution renderings from generative fill become usable on portfolio pieces. This is GREAT news! The Battle of the AI Fills in Photoshop!

What's new in ACR 16.0 and Lightroom? An EPIC Color Theory tool that I never knew I needed, and now that I have it, I am STOKED! This color range feature for modifying color is next-level color theory at play and it's at the RAW level. WOW! The only thing I could ask for is for them to port this into an Adjustment Layer into Photoshop. Let's face it: no matter how good you are or how many landscape photos you've taken, you WILL face highlight blowouts. It's not a matter of IF, but WHEN! Ideally, we want to get everything perfect in camera, but if we don't, we no longer have to throw out those photos. There is a straightforward fix for them, and it comes in sn odd package... Selective Color. Yes! A tool we typically use for color grading can also be used to fix highlight blowouts and it's actually pretty simple to do. Let's face it, Noise Reduction in ACR and Lightroom has always left us with much to be desired! It forced us to reach for third-party plugins like ON1 or Topaz DeNoise. Not anymore! In the most up-to-date version of ACR and Lightroom, you have access to a new Artificial Intelligence Noise reduction feature in the develop module, and guess what? It's incredible! I can FINALLY get a good balance between detail and color while reducing noise at the RAW level, and I see a lot of potential for it in the future. You NEED Photoshop's Selective Color Tool to go all the way. Luckily for you, I've done all the hard work 🙂 More often than not, our foliage colors are brutalized by the white balance of our cameras. They are either too yellow and far from green, or the other side of the WB spectrum makes them too blue, and yellow is forgotten, leaving dull washed-out colors. The key is to find a good separation between yellow and green in your photo. Easier said than done, right? If we aren't careful during the editing process we could do more harm than good while we are working. <br /><br />Adobe Camera Raw and Lightroom have clipping warnings built into the histogram that will show you in real time what your editing choices are doing to the bright and dark areas of your photo. Most will go straight to masking and that is one great technique. However, there are other methods, like Blend If, that can give us a unique look for double exposures.<br /><br />What is double exposure? <br /><br />In Film Photography, one can create a double exposure by photographing a scene, rolling back the film, and photography another scene on top of it. <br />OR<br />One could create a double exposure in the darkroom using varying times for two different negatives on the same photographic paper.<br /><br />In Photoshop, the sky is the limit for creating double exposures. UNTOLD Secrets of the HSL Range in Photoshop

Linear Profiles... if you spend a great deal of time editing RAW files, you have more than likely heard of Linear Profiles. By design, Linear profiles are made from a DNG copy of your camera-specific RAW file. They are brought into Adobe's DNG editor, and the tone curve for the RAW file is flattened. This makes the curve linear and removes the contrast bump hidden in the camera manufacturer's RAW file.<br /><br />Okay, so then what do we do with it? We use that Linear profile as a starting point in the RAW process. Is it worth all the effort? Do we genuinely gain anything from the process?<br /><br />I'll give you my thoughts in this video today. This was NOT meant to be a how-to guide to making Linear Profiles.
